Anthony G. "Geno" Cannistraci Sr., 73, Tyrone, died Tuesday at his residence.
He was born in Tyrone, son of Salvatore and Rosalie (Crisafulli) Cannistraci. He married Shirley Gensimore on Aug. 26, 1961, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Theresa Cannistraci (Justin) of Tyrone; three sons: Anthony II, Sam (Val) and A.J. (Lisa), all of Tyrone; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Jane Cornelius and Nina Biddle, both of Tyrone; and two brothers: Charlie (Anna) of Ironsville and Joseph of Tyrone.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Cannistraci; a brother, Angelo; and a sister, Rose Cowher.
Geno had served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He retired from Chicago Rivet, Tyrone, as a tool and die maker after more than 39 years of service. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone, Hookies Fire Company, Tyrone American Legion, Dover Millionaires and the Buck Rub Hunting Camp, Warriors Mark.
Geno was an avid hunter and gardener. He was beloved by his family and grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Friday, April 4, 2014, Father Jozef Kovacik officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
