William D. "Bill" Bonanno, 74, Manheim, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at home.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Antonio and Dominica (Panzarotto) Bonanno. He was the loving husband of Thelma (Markley) Bonanno, and they would have celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary in June.
Surviving in addition to his wife are six children: William F. Bonanno of Marietta, Annette Cook and husband, Eric, of Mountville, Matthew Rineer and wife, Patricia, of Lancaster, Adam Bonanno and wife, Carrie, of Manheim, Nadine Tyer and husband, Stephen, of Lititz and Katie Dennes and husband, Thomas, of Parkesburg; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandson due in August; and a sister, Pauline Hemond of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Trullender; and three brothers: Tony, Peter and Joseph.
Bill graduated from Altoona High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He retired after 33 years from Alcoa, Lancaster. He was an active and faithful member of Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim. He was also a life member of Elstonville Sportsman's Association, Manheim, and he was involved in local politics.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, April 4, 2014, at Salem United Methodist Church, 140 N. Penn St., Manheim. Interment will be private in Fairview Cemetery, Wrightsville.
