S. Grant Gault, 82, of Hobbit Hollow Road, Altoona, died Sunday from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Skelp Road.
He was born in Tyrone, son of Samuel Benner and Thelma J. (Burwell) Gault. He married Coralie Patterson on April 22, 1955, in Tyrone, and she died Feb. 22, 2006.
Surviving are a daughter, Noreen E. of Altoona; a son, Joseph S. (Patricia) of Tyrone; eight grandchildren: Adam Detwiler of Bellwood, Ron (Elizabeth), Brian, Rachael, Rob and Tracy Detwiler, all of Tyrone, and Cris and Larry Hunter of Warriors Mark; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Grant was a 1950 graduate of Tyrone High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. He retired in 1993 from PPG Tipton after 21 years of service. He was a member of the Tyrone Church of the Good Shepherd, Tyrone Lodge 494, F&AM, and Order of the Eastern Star.
The casket will be closed at the request of the deceased. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the funeral home, the Rev. Aden Wertz officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Tyrone Honor Guard. Interment will be at Bald Eagle Cemetery.
