Betty J. Alberts, 93, Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, died Sunday at the Manor.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Charles T. and Helen L. (McGregor) Alberts.
Surviving are a nephew, Jeffrey W. Simms and wife, Robin; a great-niece, Kelly Snively Klein and husband, Michael; a great-nephew, Scott Snively; and five great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Marian Simms and Madaline "Ditty" Shinafelt; a niece, Bonda Shinafelt Snively; and two brothers-in-law: Kenneth Simms and Merrill Shinafelt.
Betty was a 1938 graduate of Altoona High School and attended Penn State University. She retired on Jan. 4, 1982, from Butterick Co. Inc. as a supervisor of the Tracing Department after 32 years of service.
She was a member of Simpson-Temple United Parish, where she had been active with many church activities. She served as secretary of the church administrative council for eight years and on the staff parish committee. She was a member of the STUP women's group, Bible class, Sunday school and Altar Guild and served as a Communion usher for numerous years.
Betty was awarded a plaque for her years of service as treasurer for the Sixth Ward Ministries. She was also a member of Soroptimist International of Blair County. She loved music, reading and cooking, and she spent most of her time with her loving female cat, Whiskers.
A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
