Charles E. Ditcher, 77, Altoona, died Friday at UPMC Altoona, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Edward A. and Saber (Greene) Ditcher. He married Rosa M. Nowck in Rckingen, which is now known as Erlensee, Germany.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa; and his beloved Chihuahuas: Sunny and Pacha.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
He was a 1954 graduate of Altoona High School.
Charles served in the U.S. Army from 1958-83 during the Vietnam and Korean Wars, and retired as a master sergeant. After retiring from the U.S. Army, he worked as a sales clerk at Sears.
He enjoyed bowling and watching Pittsburgh Steelers football.
He was a member of the Bavarian Club and a member and volunteer of the Central Blair Recreation Commission.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, where a funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. by the Rev. Paul Johnson. Inurnment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Blair Unit, 1004 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
