Nancy D. Beach, 78, of Martinsburg passed away late Friday evening at her residence, after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Elmer C. and Olive M. (Koontz) Dilling. She married Earl G. Beach on June 19, 1967, in Elizabeth City, N.C. He passed away on Dec. 4, 2007.
Surviving are two daughters: Emily I. Burns (husband, Herbert III) of Duncansville, and Rebecca B. Knaub (husband, Mark) of Harrisburg; a sister, Carol A. Bradley of Martinsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a 1953 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg, and then attended Juniata College, Huntingdon, and the Altoona School of Commerce.
Nancy retired as a secretary from North Woodbury Township in 1996, and previous to that was employed at Montgomery Ward, Martinsburg, and as a teller at Mid-State Bank, Martinsburg, for many years.
She was a member of Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg.
Nancy enjoyed reading, crafting, bowling, card playing and especially loved wintering in Tarpon Springs, Fla.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014, at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, with Pastor David F. Banaszak and Pastor Linda S. Banaszak officiating. Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Clover Creek Church of the Brethren's "John's Way Ministry," or the Martinsburg Community Library.
