PINECROFT - The new Days Inn & Suites hotel will open for business Tuesday on Sabbath Rest Road near the Pinecroft interchange of Interstate 99.
The Days Inn & Suites is a new prototype for the brand and is a three-story interior corridor hotel, which includes modern design elements that feature a spacious foyer, communal table and more. The hotel offers a meeting room, fitness center, business center and guest laundry.
"We are very excited about it," said Lori Brookshire, corporate director of sales and marketing for Sky Hospitality Group of Florida, which will operate the hotel. "It is phenomenal; it is beautiful inside."
The 30,000-square-foot, three-story facility includes 54 rooms and 62 parking spaces.
Guest rooms feature flat-panel high definition televisions, coffee makers, refrigerators and microwaves, hair dryers, irons and ironing boards, "iDevice" docking stations and work desks with ergonomic chairs.
McCloskey Real Estate Group LLC, Altoona, owns the hotel and McCloskey Builders was the general contractor for the project.
"Days Inn & Suites sets a new standard for travelers," said McCloskey, owner of McCloskey Real Estate Group LLC and McCloskey Builders in a statement. "I am proud that we are able to offer the Altoona area, my community, a new hotel with a great design and style, quality accommodations and reasonable rates. This is an incredible up-and-coming area, and we are excited to bring our accommodations to business and recreational travelers alike."
The project has led to the creation of about a dozen full- and part-time jobs, Brookshire said.
A grand opening will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at which the public can tour the facility and enjoy complimentary refreshments. General Manager Jennifer Hartman and her hotel team members will conduct tours and answer any questions.
