Ruth V. Rabits, 87, formerly of Duncansville, passed away Sunday at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg.
She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late William and Verna (Wagner) McClain. She married Pete Rabits on Nov. 16, 1946, in Williamsburg, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1972.
Surviving are eight children: Thomas (Linda) of Deltona, Fla., Linda Wyant (Joe) of Duncansville, Robert of Orlando, Fla., Susan of Tucson, Ariz., Cathy Lingenfelter (Dan) of East Freedom, Nancy Weyandt (Daryl) of Claysburg, Carol Barber (Jim) of Duncansville and James of Duncansville; 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Richard of Williamsburg; and a sister, Lenore King in Florida.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Weyandt; three sisters; and three brothers.
Ruth was a 1944 graduate of Williamsburg High School. She then moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked at the Pentagon until 1946. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Ruth loved music, going to dances, traveling and spending time with her family. She liked to socialize with her many friends at Hollidaysburg Manor. She was always happy being around people, and she made everyone smile.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home Inc., 1218 Fourth Ave., Duncansville. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Monsignor Robert Saly as celebrant. Committal will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
