Nunzio J. Ferrucci Jr., 90, Altoona, passed away Saturday at UPMC Altoona surrounded by family and friends.
He was born in Altoona, son of Nunzio J. Sr. and Anna (Orsati) Ferrucci. He married Dorothy L. Iachini on Sept. 9, 1943, and she preceded him in death on June 19, 1996.
Surviving are a son, Louis and wife, Bonnie; four grandchildren: David (Suzy), Louis Jr. (Dana), Anthony (Natalie) and Nicole (Ryan); seven great-grandchildren: Alicia, Chandra, Mason, Leila, Lila, Gabriel and Emma; and a special friend, Helen Dawson.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Emilio, Mario and Domenic; and two sisters: Helen and Mary.
Nunzio retired from Conrail, where he worked as a crane operator at the Samuel Rea Shop in Hollidaysburg, and then moved to traction motor repair at the Juniata Shop. He was a member of the Buccinese Society, where he enjoyed playing bocce.
Nunzio was a fun-loving person. He enjoyed reading, cooking and gardening, and he especially enjoyed spending time with and playing tricks on his family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, March 25, 2014, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
