E. Grace Forney, 99, Altoona, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late B. Harrison and Jennie A. (Crider) Craiger. She married Clair B. Forney, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1986.
Grace is survived by a son, David Forney (Sandie) of Rehoboth, Del.; and two daughters: Joan Briggs (Dave) of Lubbock, Texas and Janice Hoover (Ed) of Altoona; five grandchildren: Billie Joy Briggs, Brian Forney, Lisa Smith, Michelle Tesche and Amy Johnson; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Earnest Craiger; and a granddaughter, Bobbie Jo Briggs.
She was a member of Altoona Alliance Church and a former member of Altoona Bible Church, where she taught bible school for more than 30 years.
Grace had retired from Richmond Brothers as a seamstress.
She was a 1933 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1937 graduate of Nyack College, Nyack, N.Y.
Grace enjoyed sewing and reading.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2014, and from 9 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the Altoona Alliance Church, 3220 Pleasant Valley Blvd., officiated by Pastor Tim McGarvey. Interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
The family request in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Altoona Alliance Church or to Precious Life in Grace's memory.
