William L. "Butch" Mentzer, 57, East Freedom, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Ira Paul and Verna (Hammel) Mentzer. He married Melody Miller on June 17, 1978, in Roaring Spring.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Kelly Musselman of Sproul and Kristen Shock and husband, Troy, of Williamsburg; five grandchildren: Amber, Mikhaela, Camden, Zach and Alex; a brother, Charles and wife, Anna Jane; and three sisters: Shirley Beegle and husband, Ronald, Janet Zembower and husband, Allen, and Penny Weyandt.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Claar.
Butch was a 1975 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel High School. He was a self-employed auto mechanic and enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and the Pittsburgh Steelers and playing Rook.
Friends will be received from 4 until the 7 p.m. memorial service Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, Bishop Chris Clinger officiating.
