Gladys E. (Loose) Clapper, 93, passed away Tuesday at Elmcroft of Altoona Senior Living Community, Duncansville.
She was born in Hollidaysburg, daughter of Harry and Susan (Quarry) Loose. She married Paul L. Clapper on Oct. 4, 1939, in Hollidaysburg, and he died Dec. 7, 2013.
Surviving are five daughters: Nancy McGee (Paul) in Maryland, Jane Holsinger in South Carolina, Linda Mongrain (Charlie) in Florida and Carrie Bowers (Dave) and Paula Parker (Rick), both in Pennsylvania; a son, Richard in Maryland; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters: Lois Cox, Eleanor Brubaker, Helen Fleming and Janet Reasy; six brothers: Donald, Palmer, Leon, Fred, Ted and Harry "Ray" Loose; and a son-in-law, Jim Holsinger.
Gladys was a member of the Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren, and she enjoyed camping, knitting and crocheting.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 14, 2014, and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday by Pastor Marlys Hershberger. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
