Robert Clair Meyers, 84, formerly of Altoona, passed away Sunday morning at Homewood at Martinsburg.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late G. Fred and Blanche (Rhodes) Meyers. He married Elizabeth L. Lloyd on Sept. 5, 1953, in Irvona.
Surviving are his wife, Betty at Homewood; two daughters: Cindy J. Drenning (Gary) and Barbara A. Smith (Charlie), both of Hollidaysburg; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bea Love of Duncansville.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John "Jack."
Bob attended Altoona High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Korean War. He retired from Bell of Pennsylvania, Altoona, with more than 35 years of service. He was a past member of the former Garden Heights United Methodist Church, Altoona, and a member of the Bavarian Aid Society and Cesare Battisti Club, Altoona.
Bob was a handy man who enjoyed camping, traveling and volunteering at the Van Zandt VA Medical Center.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the 12:30 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Homewood at Martinsburg Chapel, the Rev. Jerry McCuller Jr. officiating. Private interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park, rural Bellwood.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be given to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602, or to Mending Hearts Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 97, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
