Noemi E. Loibl, 87, Altoona, passed away Saturday at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Rome, Italy, daughter of Alfredo and Annita (Poretta) Cecchini. She married Richard O. Loibl on Aug. 2, 1945, in Italy. He passed away June 22, 1994.
Surviving are two daughters: Carol Ann Love of Houston, Texas, and Patricia L. Balestino of Pittsburgh; a son, Richard M. of Altoona; a brother, Raffaele Cecchini of Rome, Italy; six grandchildren: Andrea, Erica, Shannon, Christopher, Jennifer and Matthew; and five great-grandchildren.
Noemi graduated from high school in Italy. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, where she served as lector and Eucharistic minister. She enjoyed history and cooking for family. She was a member of A&J Iaia American Legion Post 827 Ladies Auxiliary, and was a member and past president of the Catholic Daughters.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be held at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
