Two men suspected of bringing drugs into Blair County are behind bars.
Darrell L. Brown, 30, of Hagerstown, Md., and James A. Harris Jr., 25, address unknown, were taken into custody by officers with the Blair County Drug Task Force after an investigation led to a traffic stop on McMahon Drive, near Lowes, on
Wednesday, according to police.
Recorded phone calls between Harris and an informant allegedly indicated the pair were bringing drugs into the area, and the car was stopped just before 9 p.m.
During the traffic stop, police noticed Brown was "talking funny," according to an affidavit of probable cause. Brown then began gagging, and officers noticed a small white
rock on his tongue, police added.
A search of Brown turned up several grams of crack hidden near his buttocks, police noted.
Harris was found to have a small amount of marijuana when searched, police said.
Armed with a search warrant, police searched the car and found digital scales, two cellphones and a box of plastic bags.
Bail was set for Harris at 10 percent of $75,000 by Magisterial District Judge Craig Ormsby, while bail for Brown was set at $25,000 cash.
Both men are due to appear before Magisterial District Judge Steven Jackson on Thursday for preliminary hearings.
