Eleanor R. Longosky, 92, a resident of Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Gallitzin, died Tuesday at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Gallitzin, daughter of the late Carlo and Zelmira (Bertoccini) Fabbri.
Surviving are a son, Carl (Susan) of Bradford; two granddaughters: Sarah (Sean) Cusick of Portland, Ore., and Kate Longosky of New York, N.Y.; a great-granddaughter, Emma Cusick; a sister, Victoria Gjurich of Gallitzin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruno C., on Jan. 22, 1978; five sisters: Agnes Bricca, Theresa Roach, Alice Fabbri, Nellie Tragon and Louise Sprouse; and two brothers: Gino and Fedo.
Eleanor was a 1939 graduate of Gallitzin High School and had been employed as a bartender at the former Keystone Hotel in Gallitzin. She was a member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, and the Legion of Mary of St. Aloysius Church, Cresson. She enjoyed crocheting and needlework.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where a vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, the Rev. Albert Ledoux as celebrant. Committal will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Cresson.
