John Wayne Forsythe, 79, Glen Burnie, Md., passed away Saturday.
He was born in Altoona, son of Harry and Helen Forsythe.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Jane E.; two children: Craig and wife, Lynn, and Dana Dezarn and husband, Brian; six grandchildren: Matthew and Christina Hawk, Ava Dezarn and Nicholas, Daniel and Kaitlyn Forsythe; as well as nieces and nephews.
John worked as an analyst for the NSA, retiring after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and AARP, serving as president of both organizations. He also gave his time selflessly to Meals on Wheels and the Friends of Arundel Seniors to help whomever he could.
John loved the Washington Redskins and was a season ticket holder for more than 50 years. He loved traveling with his wife, especially the trips to Hawaii, Ireland, Russia, Hong Kong and Peru, where he met lifelong friends. He also enjoyed reading the newspaper every morning and the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, Glen Burnie, Md., followed by a celebration of life service at 7 p.m.
