Drew Leitzell Emerick, 91, Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, formerly of State College and Altoona, died Saturday in his home.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Domer William and Marion Elizabeth (Leitzell) Emerick. He married Marjorie R. Rupe on Feb. 9, 1946, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 25, 2012.
Surviving are two brothers-in-law: Donald H. Rupe of Altoona and Dean E. Rupe and wife, Madeline, of Centre Hall; a sister-in-law, Naomi Rupe; a niece, Gail McConahy Walker, and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice McConahay; a brother-in-law, Jack Rupe; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Rupe.
Drew was a 1941 graduate of Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked most of his career as a surveyor for the borough of State College. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, State College, where he attended and served for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was loved by them for his dry sense of humor and warm spirit.
Friends will be received from 1 until the 2 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Simpson-Temple United Parish, 2212 Sixth Ave., Altoona, by Pastor Denise Arpino. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Drew's memory to the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, 220 Newry St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
