Virginia (Albright) Diehl, 91, Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, passed away Friday morning at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Hollidaysburg, daughter of William Charles and Nellie (Meyers) Albright. She married Eldon L. Diehl on July 8, 1944, in Altoona, and he died March 8, 1952.
Surviving are a sister, Valerie Wertz of Brush Mountain; and a niece, Linda Wertz Mekelburg and husband, Andy, of Adamstown, Md., and their children, Cory and Elise.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanie Diehl; and a brother, William C. Albright Jr.
Virginia was a 1940 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She retired as a cook in 1984 from the Hollidaysburg Junior High School cafeteria after 22 years of service. She attended Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren and enjoyed her grand-niece and grand-nephew.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, followed by a funeral service at noon by the Rev. Marlys Hershberger. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
