Penn State has added its fourth verbal commitment for the recruiting class of 2015, and it's a running back from in-state.
Saquan Barkley, a 5-foot-10, 190-pounder from Whitehall High School near Allentown, announced on Wednesday afternoon through Twitter that he was planning to sign with the Nittany Lions.
Barkley had committed to Rutgers on Sept. 7 but had made several trips to University Park since then, including the recent junior day on Feb. 15. He also had a scholarship offer from Pitt.
Barkley is a shifty back who can make plays in little space and then burst forward for big gains. He rushed for 1,506 yards and a school-record 23 touchdowns in 2013 while also catching 21 passes as Whitehall went 10-2.
The Nittany Lions are expected to sign at least two running backs in this class and also have been heavily involved with Bishop McDevitt's Andre Robinson and Central Bucks South's Josh Adams.
