Antonio A. "Tony" Lombardo, 82, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, after a brief illness.
He was born in Montesarchio, Italy, son of the late Nicola and Adelaide Lombardo. He married Sylvia J. Daniels on Oct. 11, 1958, and she died Feb. 26, 1998.
Surviving are a daughter, Julie Bender (Tim) of Orbisonia; three sons: Nicholas of Allentown, Anthony (Paula) of Lakemont and Joseph (Pam) of Altoona; eight grandchildren: Marissa Matthews (Dave), Domenic, Anthony and Sylvia Lombardo, Haley and Drew Bender and Jessica and Alyssa Davis; and a great-grandson, Collin.
He is also survived by close members of the Daniels family and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Antonio; a sister, Concetta Lampariello; and a half brother, Joseph Mauiello.
Tony retired from Proctor Silex as a machine operator, and he also worked at Weis Market and as a bartender at the Jaffa Shrine. He was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, Buccinese Society, San Donato Club and the Silver Sneakers at The Summit. He enjoyed playing bocce, cooking and gardening and was an avid bowler.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Feb. 20, 2014, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
