Sally L. Karcz, 66, rural Martinsburg, passed away suddenly Thursday from natural causes.
She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Orville C. and Clara E. (Mentzer) Weitzel. She married James W. Karcz on June 21, 1969, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gallitzin.
Surviving are her husband; a son, James W. Jr. and wife, Lori, of Plymouth, Minn.; a daughter, Denise L. White and husband, Marvin, of Hillsboro, Ore.; four grandchildren: Alec Karcz, Mariah White, Addison Karcz and Lucian White; two sisters: Janet Weitzel and Dori McCarty and husband, William, all of Claysburg; and a brother, Paul Weitzel and wife, Edna, of East Freedom.
She was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Jocelyn White; an infant brother, Fred; an adolescent sister, Ruth; an infant niece, Jessica; and a nephew, Rick.
Sally was a 1965 graduate of Central High School. She was a longtime active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Newry, and a member of the Blair County Genealogical Society. She enjoyed researching family genealogy, collecting family pictures, refinishing antique furniture, sewing, quilting and spending time with her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Newry, Father Allen Zeth officiating. Interment will be made in St. Patrick's Catholic Church Cemetery. A receiving of friends and family will follow the ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sally's memory may be given to the Blair County Genealogical Society or St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Newry.
