Mary W. Brown, 82, Graystone Court, Tyrone, formerly of Spruce Creek, died Monday after a brief illness.
She was born in Schuylkill Haven, daughter of Harry F. and Beulah E. (Drumheller) Wise. She was twice married, first to Donald E. Bonsell, then to Donald C. Brown, who died in June 2000.
Surviving are a daughter, Sue Lowey and husband, George, of Bald Eagle; three sons: Jeffery L. Bonsell and friend, Todd Hummel, of Lewisburg, Paul B. Bonsell and wife, Kelly, of Bald Eagle and Mike L. Bonsell and wife, Clair, of Warriors Mark; and four grandchildren: Jonathan Lowey, Loy Bonsell, Stevie Woodring and Kristin Bonsell.
Mary was a graduate of Simon Gratz High School and then attended Shippensburg State Teachers College. She taught elementary education in the Tyrone Area School District, retiring in 1987 after 25 years of service. She was a very active member of Upper Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church and the community, working with various organizations.
Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Upper Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church, the Rev. John Diller officiating. A luncheon will be provided after the service. Burial will be at Franklinville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
