Marie Salome (Edmundson) Knisely, 96, died Nov. 12, 2013, in Newtown, Pa., of end-stage Parkinson's disease.
She was born in Foot of Ten, Duncansville, daughter of David R. and Salome M. (Stifler) Edmundson. She married John William Knisely on Nov. 4, 1940, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1997, after 57 years of marriage.
Marie is lovingly remembered by four surviving siblings: James and Gary Edmundson, Patricia Reasey and Dorothy Salyards, all of the Hollidaysburg area; four children: John Ronald of Fairless Hills, William Gary of New York City, N.Y., Constance Lee Sainato of Smyrna, Del., and Jeffery Lee of Port Chester, N.Y.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews, too numerous to list.
Marie graduated from beauty school and had her own salon in South Altoona. After moving from Altoona in 1952, she worked for Atlantic Tea Packing Co. in Bristol, Pa., and General Motors Corp. in Trenton, N.J.
She enjoyed volunteering at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in New Jersey, visiting New York City with her Lakehurst, N.J., friends and traveling to France, Africa and Hawaii with friends and family. She was a founding member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fairless Hills.
