Gertrude L. Horgas, 95, of Hollidaysburg and formerly of Houtzdale died Tuesday at the home of her daughter in Hollidaysburg.
She was born in Osceola Mills, daughter of Mark and Helen (Kolesar) Macker. On June 5, 1943, in Baltimore, Md., she married Edward Joseph Horgas, who preceded her in death on July 5, 1994.
Gertrude is survived by two daughters: Ella Moslak and her husband, Harold, of Morrisdale and Judy Horgas of Hollidaysburg; two grandchildren: Edward J. Kalke and Martin J. Kalke; two step-grandchildren: Amber Couturiaux and her husband, Duane, and Darrin Moslak; six great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters: Sue Causer and Elizabeth Macker; and three brothers: Joseph, Edward and William. She was the last of her generation.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale.
Gertrude was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, baking and crocheting.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, with Father Robert Horgas as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Houtzdale. The Rosary will be recited by the Altar and Rosary Society Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
