John E. Bush Sr., 78, Juniata, died suddenly Wednesday at UPMC Altoona.
Known as Jack, he was born in Colver, Cambria County, son of the late Rueben P. and Catherine (Ball) Bush. He married Dorothy E. Helsel on Sept. 30, 1955, in Coalport.
Surviving are his wife of more than 58 years; a son, John E. Jr., and wife, Lisa, of Juniata; two daughters: Karen Farber and husband, Tim, of Creekside, and Martha Jones and husband, Scott, of Tipton; a nephew, Bernard Joseph Braniff, who was raised in the home; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Bickford and husband, Paul, of Flinton.
Jack served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired as a meter reader for the City of Altoona Parking Authority. His hobbies included working on cars and gardening.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, with the Rev. John P. Klingeman, officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
