DeSales "Dee" Hildebrand, 90, formerly of Tyrone, returned to the Lord peacefully Wednesday at Vincentian Home, Pittsburgh.
She was born in Houtzdale, daughter of Gustav and Christine (Markovich) Gustavson. She married Charles R. Hildebrand on March 2, 1946, at St. Barbara Catholic Church, Houtzdale, and he died Oct. 21, 2004.
Surviving are two children: Kathleen D. Jeffcoat of Baton Rouge, La., and Richard C. and wife, Donna, of Wexford; five grandchildren: Will and Kristine Jeffcoat and Richard Jr., Joshua and Molly Hildebrand; and four great-grandchildren: Eliena, Serafina, Adelle and Nathalie.
Dee grew up in Houtzdale and moved to Tyrone after her marriage, where she lived and worked most of her adult life. She was a longtime school secretary for the Tyrone Area School District. Five years ago, she moved to Vincentian Nursing Home in Pittsburgh to be near her son, and she was loved by all who cared for her.
In her early life, Dee and her sister, Doris, worked in a dance studio as instructors. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and painting. She was an extremely kind lady and a great mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 14, 2014, at Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Father Jozef Kovacik as celebrant. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
