Caterina "Catherine" Rubine, 90, Altoona, passed away peacefully Tuesday at home.
She was born in Bari, Italy, daughter of Nicolino and Antoinette (Rezzi) Caradanna. She married Nicholas M. Rubine on Sept. 6, 1945, and he died Jan. 6, 1997.
Surviving are a son, Daniel A. (Christyn) of Altoona; two grandsons: Eric and Jason; a great-granddaughter, Jada; and two brothers: Giovanni Caradanna of Venice, Italy, and Paul Caradanna of Bari, Italy.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Lederer.
Catherine retired as a machine operator from Puritan with 28 years of service. She also worked as a senior companion at Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg, and various other nursing homes. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and also belonged to the Third Order Confraternity, Order Sons of Italy in America and AARP.
Catherine enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
