Carl L. Johnson, 88, of Dauphin died Wednesday in Margate, Fla.
He was born in Penbrook, son of the late Chester and Mabel (Farley) Johnson. He married Linda Jeanne Riley on Oct. 11, 1948, in Virginia.
Surviving are his wife; and a son, Carl L. Johnson Jr. of Margate, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph; and two sisters: Fay Bauserman and Ruth Hurley.
Carl was a 1943 graduate of John Harris High School, Harrisburg. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He retired as a machinist from Conrail.
Carl was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Dauphin. He was a lifetime member of the Penbrook Volunteer Fire Department, the Penbrook VFW and the Penbrook American Legion.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, by the Rev. Kaye Hute. Interment with military honors will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carl's memory may be given to a food bank of your choice, the American Cancer Society or the Hospice by the Sea, Broward County, Fla.
