W. Ralph Sellers Jr., 94, Hollidaysburg, died peacefully Jan. 31, 2014.
He was the son of the late William R. "Bud" and Alma Pauline (Borg) Sellers.
Surviving are three nephews: Chris Brothers, M.D., of Santa Fe, N.M., Monty Brothers, M.D., and wife, Dale, of Elkton, Va., and William Brothers, M.D., and wife, Jo, of Poquoson, Va.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Brothers of Lexington, Va.
A lifelong resident of Hollidaysburg, Ralph lived a life dedicated to his family, country and community. During WWII, he voluntarily served in the U.S. Navy. Assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 12 aboard PT 196, he saw extensive action in the South Pacific.
Through his long-term position of manager of the Hollidaysburg branch of Columbia Savings and Loan, leadership roles in the United Methodist Church and numerous civic associations, he gave tirelessly to the hometown he so loved.
Ralph was past master of the Portage Masonic Lodge and a life member of the Jaffa Shrine. His longstanding service to the Boy Scouts, Hollidaysburg Area YMCA, American Legion, VFW and Rotary Club spanned a period of more than 50 years and resulted in a great many significant accomplishments for those organizations.
A private interment is planned, and a service in celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
