One person is behind bars after police allegedly seized $10,000 worth of cocaine at an Eighth Avenue apartment.
Lamont D. Valentine, 29, of 1716 Eighth Ave., was taken into custody without incident about 8 p.m. Wednesday as state narcotics agents, Altoona police and members of the Blair County Drug Task Force moved in on his apartment with a search warrant, according to police.
A search of Valentine's apartment allegedly turned up cocaine, both in powder and crack form, as well as $264 in cash. A digital scale and razor blade with a white powder residue as well as a mirror with suspected cocaine was also recovered, police said. A subsequent search of his girlfriend's home yielded another $2,400 in cash, according to police.
Police noted Valentine is on probation in the Philadelphia area.
The investigation of Valentine remains ongoing with additional charges pending, police added.
Police said Thursday's arrest and the cocaine seizure would not have been possible without the financial support of Operation Our Town, which funded the investigation into Valentine's alleged drug dealing.
Valentine was arraigned Thursday by Magisterial District Judge Todd Kelly, who set bail at $25,000 cash, and is due to appear at Central Court on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.
