Being a student at Penn State Altoona, the weapons of mass destruction incident really struck home for me.
Vladislav Miftakhov, who is also a freshman at Penn State Altoona, was arrested for possessing a weapon of mass destruction and risking a catastrophe.
He was also charged with possession of controlled substances, possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The part of this whole situation that scares me the most is that this young man would not have been caught if it wasn't for him growing pot in his apartment and gaining the attention of local law enforcement.
Police had been investigating his apartment for a potential marijuana-growing project, and that's the only reason they came across these potential fatal explosives he was in the process of building.
This proves how easy it is to make these explosives and potentially set them off without anyone ever knowing about the entire operation. This brings us back to the Boston bombing.
Who knows how long they had been planning this or how they created those bombs?
It proves that anyone could be making explosives and ultimately set them off any time anywhere. As a patron of society, that is scary.
