Dorothy I. Yingling, 95, a resident of The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, formerly of Blandburg, died Sunday, her 95th birthday, at the home.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Clyde H. and Catherine M. (Deppen) Hescox. She married Clair L. Yingling on Feb. 19, 1938, in Cumberland, Md., and he died Dec. 10, 1999.
Surviving are five children: Barbara J. Barnes of Bedford, Ohio, William L. (Rita) of Flinton, Nancy L. (Jack) Hamel of Hollidaysburg, James C. (Carol) of Tyrone and Jon C. (Sharyl) of Lexington, Ky.; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and six siblings: Charles L. of Mountaindale, John of Hollidaysburg, Bob of Martinsburg, Elizabeth Hockenberry of Flinton, Shirley Nordgulen in Arizona and Dawn Troxell of Glasgow.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James; two infant brothers; and two sisters: Jean Miller and Ivon Kuhn.
Dorothy retired in 1980 after being employed for 11 years as a clerk at Kmart, Altoona. She was a member of the Blandburg United Methodist Church and enjoyed crocheting.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2014. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.
