Thomas "Hop" Waksmonski Sr., 81, Ashville, died Saturday at home.
He was born in Coupon, son of the late Albert and Edith (McMullen) Waksmonski.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Bernice McConnell, whom he married on June 28, 1958, in Ashville; children: Debra Behe (Robert) of Martinsburg, Thomas A. (Regina Lieb) of Hollidaysburg; grandchildren: Sarah Waksmonski, Michael Krug (Amanda), David Krug and Angela Gayman (Todd); great-grandchildren: Natalie Gayman and Michael Krug Jr.; a sister, Helen Cuomo (Patrick) of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers: Clair, Ralph, Martin and Sylvester "Tab," and a sister, Veronica Yonkosky.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War era.
Tom was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was a very contented family man. He enjoyed dancing, yard work and feeding birds.
He retired from Butterick, Altoona, in 1992 after 42 years of service.
Tom was an honorary life member of the Graphic Communications International Union, and a former member of Ashville VFW and Cresson American Legion.
He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Sean Code, celebrant. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, where a Vigil service will be held Tuesday. Committal will be at St. Thomas Cemetery, Ashville.
