Cora E. "Betty" Mitol, 90, Duncansville, died Monday evening at The Winds at Mattern Orchard. She was formerly of Oklahoma, North Braddock, Pa., Level Green, Pa., and Brooksville, Fla.
She was born in Sewickley, daughter of Herbert Dewey and Naomi Ruth (McCurdy) Moses. She married Ormond J. Mitol on Aug. 31, 1943.
Surviving are her husband, with whom she shared 70 years of marriage; two daughters: G. Diane Mitol of Altoona, formerly of Burtonsville, Md., and Marsha E. Miller of Northern Cambria; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Betty was a 1941 graduate of Scott High School, North Braddock, and a graduate of the Robert Morris School of Business in secretarial studies. She was employed in secretarial work at a steel mill in the early 1940s and then enjoyed her life as a housewife. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Corinth Chapter 229, Pitcairn, and of the former Orient Chapter 35. She also served as mother advisor in the former Level Green Rainbow Assembly.
Betty enjoyed arts and crafts, including china painting and oil painting, as well as being a companion to her dog, Mariah.
Friends will be received from 1 until the 2 p.m. memorial service Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, the Rev. Jaime G. Olson officiating. An Eastern Star service will also be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
