Winifred Maude Knisley, 78, East Freedom, died Monday morning at home after an extended battle with cancer.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Preston and Mary (Earnest) Holsinger. She married William J. Knisley on Oct. 17, 1953, in McKee, and he died Nov. 23, 1992.
Surviving are five children: Mary Fouse and husband, Carl, of James Creek, Cindy Knisley of Roaring Spring, Connie Dodson and husband, Kenneth, of Newry, Tina Moyer and husband, Francis, of Duncansville and William Knisley and fiancee, Cheryl Smith, of Newry; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five siblings: Joann Ringler, Patricia Conrad, Rosemary Imler, Daniel Holsinger and Paul Holsinger; and two nieces who were raised in the home: Mary Lou Seymore and Betty Jane Evans.
She was preceded in death by a great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Jay Holsinger; and a nephew who was raised in the home, Samuel Young.
Winifred retired from Tritex in 1992 after many years of service.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing, but friends will be received from 1 until the 2 p.m. memorial service Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring, Pastor Jake Snyder officiating. Inurnment will be made in Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Winifred's memory may be given to the American Cancer Society.
