Marjorie A. Shawley, 83, Hollidaysburg, passed away Sunday afternoon at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness.
She was born in Sand Banks, daughter of Harry and Almira (Hyle) Love. She married John D. "Jack" Shawley on July 18, 1953, in Hollidaysburg, and he died Dec. 18, 2000.
Surviving are a son, Mark L. (Rhonda) of Hollidaysburg; two daughters: Faith R. Nelson (Jeffrey M.) of Tipton and Jill A. Lasek (Richard J.) of Duncansville; and four grandchildren: Dylan T. Nelson, Kayleigh R. Nelson, Natalie L. Shawley and Jennifer N. Lasek.
Marjorie was a 1949 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She retired as a nurse's aide from the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home and prior to that had been employed at H.L. Green, Sylvania and Veeder-Root Co. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Hollidaysburg and enjoyed bingo, crocheting and bus trips.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. by Pastor Chuck Monts. Interment will be in Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
