Fred A. Godish, 75, Lilly, went to his eternal rest Tuesday at his residence with his loved ones by his bedside.
He was born in Lilly, son of the late Anthony and Amelia (Majchrowicz) Godish.
Surviving are four children: Rebecca Detwiler and husband, Paul, Donna Helsel and husband, Shawn, Virginia Rock and husband, John, and Raymond and special friend, Melanie; a very special loving friend, Regina; five grandchildren: P.J. and Justin Detwiler, Shayna and Tyler Helsel and Madyson Rock; and three siblings: Stasia Mischock, Tillie Farrah and husband, Sam, and John and wife, Doris.
He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Diane Godish; numerous nieces and nephews; and loving friends: Mary Lou and Irene.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Shuty); a brother, Thad; and a sister-in-law, Marcie (Washchalk) Godish.
Fred was a 1956 graduate of Lilly-Washington High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Tri-State Belting Co. He was a member of Lilly American Legion, and he loved gardening, walking and polkas.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Thomas F. Cloherty Funeral Home, Lilly, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Duncansville. Committal will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Lilly. Military rites will be accorded by Lilly American Legion and Lilly VFW.
