Hilda C. Taylor, 93, Valley View Health and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of 1127 23rd Ave., Altoona, died Sunday at the center.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Edward W. and Mary C. (Seidel) Carlheim. She married Edward J. Taylor on June 17, 1948, at St. Leo's Church, Altoona, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1996.
Surviving are three daughters: Anne Kauffman and husband, Raymond, and Jean Gallagher and husband, Robert, all of Altoona, and Ruth Peretich and husband, David, of Murrysville; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Billmyer of Winchester, Va.
She was preceded in death by four sisters: Martha Miller, Margaret Carlheim, Cecelia Allen and Catherine Rutter; and four brothers: George, Herman, Eddie and Leo.
Hilda was a graduate of Altoona High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. She was an avid knitter and bowled in the ladies' league at the Knights of Columbus.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament by Monsignor Robert Mazur. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
