Reges V. Hoover, 94, Martinsburg, passed away early Saturday morning at Homewood at Martinsburg after an extended illness.
She was born in Curryville, daughter of the late Samuel W. and Milliam R. (Hamel) Ritchey. She married Charles R. Hoover on March 23, 1940, and he preceded her in death on May 17, 2011.
Surviving are three sons: Rodney and wife, Joyce (Donovan), and Dale and wife, Carol (Dauberman), all of Martinsburg, and Jerre and wife, Cindy (Lightner), of Fredericksburg, rural Martinsburg; five grandchildren: Todd Hoover of Raleigh, N.C., Dori Weaver (David) of Wilmington, N.C., Beth Burnham (Stephen) of Sinking Spring, Mandy Webb (Jason) of Hummelstown and Christi Seidel (Timothy) of Lancaster; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Lyonel D. "Bud" Ritchey.
Reges was a 1937 graduate of Morrison Cove High School, Martinsburg. After high school, she worked at the cannery in Martinsburg and then was employed as the manager of the cafeteria at Morrison Cove High School for many years. She was a member of Curryville Church of the Brethren.
Reges loved boating and spending time with her family and pet poodles at their cabin at Raystown. She and her husband, Charles, also enjoyed spending their winters in Florida.
There will be no public viewing. However, friends will be received from 11:30 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at the chapel at Homewood at Martinsburg, the Rev. Jerry McCuller Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be given to the Homewood at Martinsburg Benevolence Fund.
