Robert Lee "Cannonball" Cannistraci, 65, Tyrone, died Sunday at his residence.
He was born in Tyrone, son of Salvatore and Margaret (Johnson) Cannistraci. He married Sharon Sponsler on July 13, 1994, in Cumberland, Md.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Tina Lewis and husband, Timothy, of Janesville; a son, Robert Lynn of Fallentimber; two stepdaughters: Vanessa Lynne Collins and husband, John, of Ellicott City, Md., and Melissa Ann Confer of Tipton; six grandchildren: Mikayla and Sidney Lewis, Brandon and Tyler Collins, Troy Confer and Zachary Wagenman; three sisters: Rosadore Gurekovich of Ironsville, Joyce Stock of Greenville, N.C., and Betty Moore of Port Matilda; and four brothers: Samuel, John, Frank and James, all of Tyrone.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Andrew, Charlie and Joseph.
Robert was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a sergeant at the Bien Hoa Air Force Base, Vietnam, with two tours of duty. He retired in 2011 from Chicago Rivet, Tyrone, as a machinist after 40 years of service. He was an avid hunter with a great passion and love for the outdoors, where he spent much of his spare time.
Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, the Rev. Georgetta Hartley officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park. The Tyrone Honor Guard will accord veteran's honors at the funeral service.
