The Rev. Allen R. Searle, 82, Sharon, formerly of Altoona, died early Wednesday morning.
He was born in York, son of Harold and Dorcas (Hartman) Searle.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Rebekah L. (Richard) Hopkins; three sons: the Rev. David L. (Janet), Jonathan M. of Altoona and the Rev. Dan L. (Beth); 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly Throne (James) of York.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Stephen; and three brothers: Harold, Richard and Gerald.
The Rev. Searle graduated from York High School and Lancaster Bible College. He retired in 2011 as the senior pastor of the Church of God, Altoona. He had previously served as pastor at the Independent Bible Church, Altoona, and as an instructor at the Altoona Bible Institute. He also had served in various other pastorates throughout his lifetime of ministry. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
A memorial service celebrating his life and ministry for the Lord will be held at noon Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at South Pymatuning Community Church, 3400 Tamarack Drive, Sharpsville, with his sons, the Revs. Dan L. Searle and David L. Searle officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
