Michael R. Kreshalk, 57, Ebensburg, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh.
He was born in Johnstown, son of the late Michael and Margaret "Peg" Kreshalk, and grew up in Nanty Glo.
Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Susan (Sweeney); two children: Kristine and Mike at home; two sisters: Kathleen (Robert E.) James of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Peggy (Keith) Weirauch in Kentucky; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Sweeney of Knoxville, Tenn.
Mike was a graduate of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School and attended Penn State Altoona. He was a city paramedic with AMED for the last 25 years. He had also served as a Nanty Glo Borough policeman and as a Mainline 911 dispatcher during the Johnstown Flood of 1977, and he was a life member of the Dauntless Fire Company. He was a member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Ebensburg.
A dedicated family man, Mike enjoyed woodworking, tinkering, working on cars and especially his trips to Disney World with his family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held Sunday afternoon. A fireman's memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Holy Name Church, Monsignor David Lockard as celebrant. Committal will be at Holy Name Cemetery.
