John W. Black Jr., 63, Imler, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday with family and friends by his side.
He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late John W. Sr. and Anna Marie (Close) Black.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon; a daughter, Deborah Wood and husband, Jim; and three grandchildren: Gunnar James, Briar Rose and Ember Annalynne Wood.
John was a 1967 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel High School. He was Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the Van Zandt VA Medical Center. He attended the Foot of Ten Independent Baptist Church.
John loved Penn State football, taking Gunnar hunting, attending dance recitals for Briar and watching little Ember play.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at the Foot of Ten Independent Baptist Church, Pastor David Huston officiating. Interment will be at St. Mark's Cemetery, King.
