Robert C. "Bob" "Flash" Gordon, 79, Altoona, formerly of Johnstown, died Monday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Johnstown, son of the late Peter and Lillian (McGough) Gordon. He married Janet L. Schrader on Oct. 8, 2005, in Foot of Ten.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Cindy Kepple and husband, Patrick T., and Carol Uadiski and husband, Vernon L., all of Johnstown; two grandchildren: Lindsay Elstner and husband, Kenneth, and Patrick G. Kepple; two great-grandchildren: Austin and Ian Elstner; and two sisters: Madeline Lauper and Colleen Zak and husband, Daniel, all of Johnstown.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Isabel Shaffer and husband, James, and Dorothy Yingling and husband, Raymond; and a brother-in-law, John Lauper.
Bob was a U.S. Navy Reserve veteran and retired in 1992 as a roller for Bethlehem Steel Corp. after 40 years of service. He was a lifelong member of the Cathedral of St John Gualbert, Johnstown, and also belonged to the Chim-Rock Squares and Kill-Buck Squares.
Bob enjoyed roller skating, dancing and traveling.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, the Rev. Elizabeth Hess officiating. Interment will be made at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
