Evelyn Louise Rito, 90, Altoona, died Sunday at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Louis and Tecla (Melosso) Bravin. She married Joseph Francis Rito on Oct. 21, 1950, in Altoona, and he preceded her in death Dec. 28, 2007.
Surviving are six children: Edward and wife, Anne, of Altoona, David of Altoona, Paul of State College, Jean Wagner and husband, Mark, of St. Charles, Mo., Carol of Altoona and Joann Kasun and husband, Bob, of Altoona; seven grandchildren: Aaron, Sarah, Rachel, Matthew, Benjamin, Rebecca and Emily; two great-grandchildren: Xavier and Elizabeth; and her Garvey Manor Nursing Home family.
She was preceded in death by four siblings: Edward Bravin, Sister M. Yolanda, I.H.M., Rose Bravin and Yolanda Ciampoli.
Evelyn was a 1941 graduate of Altoona High School. She retired as a secretary and bookkeeper from Calvary Cemetery in 1986 after seven years of service. She formerly was employed at Wolf Furniture, Grant's Department Store and Catholic Social Services.
Evelyn was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona, where she was a Eucharistic minister and member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the former Mercy Hospital Social-Lites and a volunteer at Valley View Home. She enjoyed word puzzles and singing and was devoted to the daily Mass and rosary.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at the chapel at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, where a vigil service for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona. Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
