Does the first amendment matter any more today in America? Are we turning into a fascist nation?
Today the media is buzzing about the suspension of Phil Robertson and many are celebrating it.
I want to make it clear before the hate mail starts that I do not agree with Robertson; however, I back his right to free speech and freedom of religion 110 percent.
The only speech that is worth protecting is the speech you do not agree with.
We demand tolerance but in that rush for equality and acceptance why on earth are we trying to silence those we do not agree with?
With so many rights slipping away in this country and prominent actor Ivan Okhlobystin getting away with saying "gays should be put in the oven" in Russia and gays being stoned to death in Iran, why are we not joining forces with those who will stand with us on the right to life?
I want equality in every sense of the word but wouldn't the right to life come first?
Just the other day, Glenn Beck offered to stand arm in arm with members of GLAAD to stand up to the atrocities around the world.
Of course, that call went unanswered. Why? It seems the left wants to pick apart any opinion that is not lock step with theirs, instead of coming together to save lives or rights.
Remember, when you are screaming how offended you are, and that someone should be punished, and you take away the rights or way of life of another, there will be no one left to defend you when someone comes after your rights.
Wake up, America.
