Lulu H. Oxley, 83, a guest at Carrol's Rest Home, Bedford, formerly of Altoona, died Friday after a brief illness.
She was born in Cumberland, Md., daughter of the late Ralph M. Hite and Lulu P. (Miller) Hite-Woida and stepfather Gust Woida. She married George Oxley on Aug. 6, 1948, in Cumberland, Md., and he preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1996.
Surviving are a special niece, Beverly Johnson of Ellerslie, Md.; two cousins: Eugene Hite and Mary Platt; as well as several nieces, nephews and special friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, David K., on March 21, 2013.
Lulu was a graduate of Allegany High School in Cumberland, Md. She was an avid doll collector and specialized in doll repair and restoration. She also enjoyed watching trains and gardening. She took great pleasure in being the anonymous doll exhibiter for the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art Christmas Tea.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at First United Church of Christ, 112 Maple St., Hyndman, by Pastor Tomislav Doech. Interment will be at Hyndman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art or a charity of your choice in Lulu's memory.
