Betty L. "Nana" Lewis, 91, Claysburg, went from home to be her family's guardian angel Sunday at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Claysburg, daughter of the late Wesley and Mary (Dively) Weyant. She married Dean A. Lewis on April 22, 1943, in Imler, and he passed away Jan. 21, 1981.
Surviving are a son, Thomas W. and wife, Renee, of Coatesville; seven grandchildren: Amy Dibert and fiance, Michael Boyer, with whom she resided, Abi Bush and husband, Michael, Adam Dibert and fiancee, Sarah Harten, Julie Lewis, Matthew Lewis, Dr. Jaime Lewis and husband, Lawrence Klunk, and Heather McVeigh and husband, Travis; and five great-grandchildren: Zaiden, Zakera and Zailee Bush, Briana McVeigh and Eliot Klunk.
She is also survived by a son-in-law, Edward Dibert; and a special sister-in-law, Naomi Weyant.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Phoebe Dibert; and a brother, Robert Weyant.
Betty was a 1940 graduate of Claysburg High School and a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of Greenfield United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school and was the organist for many years. She enjoyed life, including traveling, the Peppi group at the senior center, being part of the Cove Relay for Life, community plays, reading, her pets and spending time with her caregiver, Tabitha Weyandt. She was always the life of the party.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Greenfield United Church of Christ, Pastor Robert Penner officiating. Interment will be in Greenfield Cemetery.
