Veronica Kay Flaig, 72, Williamsburg, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly after a brief illness early Sunday morning at UPMC Altoona with her family by her side.
She was born at home in Williamsburg, daughter of the late Francis Stanley and Dorothy M. (Wilson) Norris. She married William A. Flaig on Nov. 6, 1959 in Cumberland, Md.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 54 years; a daughter, Katrina Y. Saylor (husband, Samuel C. II) of Williamsburg; three sons: Derek W. (wife, Debra) of Altoona, Erick C. (wife, Amy) and Robert F. Sr. (wife, Rosemary), all of Williamsburg; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dennis Norris (wife, Darlene) of Littleton, Colo.
Veronica was a 1959 graduate of Williamsburg High School. After graduation, she was employed as one of the first car-hops at Dave's Dream Restaurant, Hollidaysburg.
She was primarily a homemaker who loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Veronica also enjoyed doing genealogy, reading, classic movies, dining at restaurants and her pet cats.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, with Pastor Elizabeth A. Hess officiating. Interment will follow at Presbyterian Cemetery, Williamsburg.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to the Williamsburg Public Library.
